Each peace medallion I make is one of a kind, no two are exactly alike. This is because of the process used in the making. I begin with a cuttlefish bone (the kind that you see in birdcages for the birds to peck) and I carve the impression of the peace sign in the bone. I then use the cuttlefish bone to make a primitive mold. I melt sterling silver, and pour the molten silver into the mold. The unusual, organic patterns on the medallion are created by the texture of the bone itself. The molten metal destroys the cuttlefish bone, so I have to carve a new mold for each medallion. The medallions are the roughly the size of a Kennedy half-dollar, but if you want one smaller, let me know and I will make a smaller one for you.
